WESTONING,
BEDS.
“A short
distance South of Westoning the coprolite bed of the
Lower Greensand is exposed over which is a bed of dark heavy clay which is in
its turn capped by a bed of drift sand and gravel. This coprolite bed is worked
in several places in the immediate vicinity for its phosphatic nodules and
furnishes the usual fossils characteristic of this stratum.” Saunders, J.‘Notes on the Geology of S.Beds.‘ Geol.Mag.iv 1867,pp154-8.
