DINTON, BUCKS,
Geological
reports show that there were ”coprolite works on the
top of the hill” at Dinton, (GR.789090) just east of
Ford, near Moreton, but there was no indication when
it was in operation. The majority of Bucks. coprolite
workings were during the 1870s and 1880s ran by Mr Wilkinson (sic) of Leighton
Buzzard as manager of the Wolverhampton Manure Works of Sir John Morris and
Alfred Griffin but there were other contractors in the region who may also have
been involved here. (Jukes-Browne, A.J.,’Cretaceous
Rocks of Great Britain,’ Mem.Geol.Surv. 1900,p.430)
