There were
extensive coprolite works near Horsecrofts farm 14
feet deep 1” thick and Longfields farm in 1872??
Following the
death of John Dobede on 1st December 1876 2,238 acres
of the Soham Place Estate was auctioned. The sale
particulars mentioned that
“In the
immediate vicinity coprolites are being obtained in large quantities, and they
have been found upon portions of this property. It is confidently believed by
experienced Coprolite workers that they may be a source of great profit to the
owners of many of the lots included in these sale particulars.”

Coprolites.
- To be sold by private treaty, the coprolites contained in about 15 acres of
land, within easy distance of two railway stations. Good vein. Cambridge Coprolites. Enquire of Mr. F.A. Johnson, Hall, Soham.”
