Born and brought up in the Northeast of England, the penultimate of nine children, Bernard followed in the footsteps of many in his family by becoming a teacher. He studied in Liverpool and London in the early seventies, specialising in Geography and Philosophy.
His career has spanned over thirty years; teaching Geography, History, English, Humanities, Citizenship, Religious Education and ICT in the UK, Taiwan, China and Australia.
Having travelled widely and wanting to better understand people and places, he has studied extensively so that he can impart what he’s learnt to his students – or anyone prepared to listen.
Since moving to Bedfordshire Cambridgeshire border in the mid-1980s, he has been researching the local geology, archaeology, history and natural history and has written and published widely, giving talks and lectures across the region.
